This proposal seeks community approval to fund the launch of DIMO Japan led by its CEO Ryo Hayashi. Ryo has extensive experience in Japanese automotive, must recently at IDOM.
DIMO Japan is to be a joint venture funded by the DIMO Foundation and Key3. Key3 is itself a joint venture between Hakuhodo Inc, one of the largest marketing agencies in Japan and vendor to most domestic automakers, and Sota Watanabe, CEO of Startale Labs Japan, the major contributor to the Soneium blockchain.
The DIMO Foundation will contribute $500,000 USDT and 4,000,000 DIMO tokens, subject to milestone-based disbursement and lockup schedules, in exchange for up to 33% equity ownership in the entity. DIMO Japan’s mission is to accelerate adoption of the DIMO Protocol by establishing commercial partnerships with Japanese automotive stakeholders, delivering custom connected vehicle solutions, and localizing DIMO products for the Japanese market.

They will localize core DIMO materials—such as pitch decks, documentation, and case studies—into Japanese. In parallel, DIMO Japan will leverage Key3’s strategic network to secure high-level introductions to OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and insurance companies, initiating targeted discovery workshops with up to ten enterprise prospects. These sessions will identify specific needs for connected vehicle data infrastructure, EV intelligence, fleet optimization, and custom SaaS tools.
In months three through six, the team aims to convert early discovery engagements into paid pilot programs and formalize localized versions of DIMO’s core products, starting with the DIMO Mobile App. Localization will include language translation, compliance, and launching a dedicated marketing site tailored to Japanese users.
In months six through twelve, DIMO Japan will pursue full-scale commercialization by finalizing enterprise contracts with at least three customers, deploying the Japanese version of the DIMO Mobile App via major app stores, and generating revenue from at least one product. Co-branded marketing campaigns with Key3 and early customers will increase visibility, supported by public relations and case studies.
From months twelve to eighteen, DIMO Japan will work to activate a flywheel effect through user incentives and deeper integration into the DIMO ecosystem. This includes introducing token-based programs for early users and fleets, onboarding local validator or infrastructure partners to build a DePIN presence in Japan, and aligning with evolving government policies around EVs and telematics. The go-to-market team will expand to include customer success, growth marketing, and integration roles as commercial momentum builds.
