oil

Fraction of the life that the engine oil that remains

High-Level Explanation

This signal shows the fraction of the engine oil life that remains until an oil change is necessary. This signal ranges from 0 to 1, where 0 indicates the vehicle's software estimates that the engine oil must be changed immediately, 1 indicates that the oil has just been replaced.

Some vehicles track mileage and give oil life remaining as the fraction of miles driven out of the expected driving distance that the oil should last (e.g. 5,000 miles). And some vehicles have more complex methods of estimating oil life remaining, including monitoring the type of driving (e.g. speed and length of trips).
