Introduction

Welcome to the DIMO Developer Platform!

DIMO Check-in

The vast set of DIMO APIs and solutions provide vehicle, device, user, and trips data that are building blocks to support a broad range of data requirements and create experiences that facilitate business growth. The DIMO Developer Platform also provides SDKs and other tools to help developers build and test developed applications.

With DIMO, you can build an app that: puts an AI car expert in your pocket who knows exactly how and when to service and sell your car; allows anyone to text a link to a friend or rental customer to find, unlock, and drive a car; offers new and innovative pay-per-mile insurance products; alerts you if your kid is driving past curfew or gets in an accident; and so much more.

How DIMO works?

There are over 1.4 billion vehicles around the world today, so imagine the volume of data they generate. While you have a smartphone and smart devices in your life, vehicles are still dumb in many ways.

With phones we went from landline, to flip phone, to Blackberry, to iPhone. Cars today are as smart and connected as landlines or flip phones. DIMO is here to usher in that smart phone "there's an app for that" era for mobility.

Rob Solomon, DIMO co-founder

The DIMO Network enables vehicles to be part of a network where users have ownership over their vehicle data (as an asset) and have the ability to earn rewards when sharing that data with a service provider. As a developer with great ideas, you're coming in as a destination or a medium for those vehicle data. Think of DIMO as the App Store for vehicles, you can now unlock superpowers of the industry and not just doors.

Depending on what you are looking to build on the DIMO Network, we support a variety of routes for you to follow:

  1. Be a medium: Build a hardware similar to the AutoPi and Macaron

  2. Be a destination (for vehicle data):

    • Building an app that creates users + onboards vehicles + access to data, similar to DIMO Mobile

    • Building an app that simply interacts with DIMO vehicle data

To start as a developer, please read through the Developer Terms of Service.
