I want to move my device to a different one of my cars
Have you completed a full pairing with this device, including checklist if you connected before December 2022?
Yes: You can unpair and move the device to a new car! On the vehicle page, hit the car keys in the top right corner > Vehicle Connections > DIMO Miner > Delete.
No: Complete checklist first, then you can unpair and move the device to a new car!
I want to give the device to someone else to put in their car
Have you completed a full pairing with this device, including checklist if you connected before December 2022?
Yes: While you can move the device to another one of your own cars, you cannot give it to another person. The device is linked to your DIMO account. Coming soon
No: As long as you have not claimed the Device ID (this will be indicated in your checklist) you can give the device to another person.
What does this look like on-chain?
Device Never Paired: If the device has never been claimed on chain, there is no issue with claiming it with any wallet.
Device Claimed by User: If the Hardware Device ID has been claimed, the user cannot send it to another user (yet), but can continue to own the device in their wallet.
Device Claimed and Paired to Vehicle: If the device has been claimed by the user, and paired to a vehicle, they can unpair it from that vehicle and attach it to another vehicle.
Switching Accounts: Once a user has claimed an AutoPi, they will not be able to move it to another login/account. They will have to reach out to support to get the device moved over. We are building the transfer functionality.
