range
The distance the vehicle can drive before the battery runs out of stored energy, in kilometers
High-Level Explanation
This signal gives the vehicle software's current estimate of the number of kilometers that the vehicle can drive until the battery is empty.
This estimate is extremely non-trivial, as the weather, road grade, driving style, etc. have a very high impact on the distance an electric vehicle can drive with the same amount of stored energy in the battery.
Enables
After a charging session, the total range added is a reasonable proxy for the total energy added to a vehicle's battery.
It is difficult to obtain the energy capacity of specific vehicle make + model + year + trim values at scale without manual lookup, so range when the battery is full (or near full) can provide a helpful way to estimate the total kilowatt-hour energy capacity of the vehicle's battery (though see the caveat about range calculations being non-trivial above).

range/soc for only values of soc (state of charge) that are greater than or equal to 90% of battery capacity. This can help provide an estimate of the range at full batteryLast updated
